Richard Nixon's Justice Department brought a race discrimination case against Fred [Donald's father] and Donald Trump for racially excluding blacks and Latinos in a systematic way. If a black person came in seeking an apartment, he got a certain color folder for his application. A Latino got a different color folder.
The racial discrimination pattern at Fred Trump developments was really quite extraordinary. Donald stated in an affidavit to the Justice Department that he didn’t have anything to do with the actual rentals personally. But in his application for a New York real estate broker’s license, he filed a sworn statement that claimed he was in charge of all the rentals of the apartments. Ultimately, Fred and Donald settled the case.
