Patton and Me

Patriotism is more than a Big Flag

There are many kinds of heroes.
Anyone killed in combat is a surely a hero.
But people who don't actively serve in the military can still be heroes.

For example, although I didn't ship off to Vietnam, I was constantly risking my life and shtick keeping the ladies satisfied while their boyfriends were overseas fighting. Believe me, STD's are no fun and are not to be taken lightly. But I sucked it up, inspired by the immortal words of General George Patton, who said:

"No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country."

So when ignorant people call me a draft dodger, I tell them I was just following orders.
